It all started in 1935. The Orange Bowl Committee was charged with bringing tourism to South Florida and Miami’s sunny beaches through the hosting of an annual football game and activities surrounding what was then called the Palm Festival. To say the Orange Bowl has come a long way since then would be an understatement.
From Joe Namath’s MVP performance in 1965 to the dominant Nebraska teams of the 1990s, the Orange Bowl and its native city have hosted national champions, Hall of Fame coaches, all-Americans, an unparalleled halftime extravaganza and the magnificent King Orange Parade.
This one-of-a-kind official commemorative book of the Orange Bowl and the Orange Bowl Committee details the rich history and traditions of the Orange Bowl game itself, the venerable stadium it called home for much of 75 years, conference relationships, its eventual move into the prestigious Bowl Championship Series and the community events surrounding the New Year’s tradition.

The Orange Bowl Committee was created in 1935 to generate tourism to South Florida through an annual football game and supporting activities. Since that time, the not-for-profit, 333-member volunteer organization has expanded its reach beyond the city to become a foundation of the South Florida community. This compilation of tradition and memories is the official 75th anniversary commemorative book of the Orange Bowl Committee.
