About the Author

Christopher Valen is the author of three works of fiction featuring Colombian born St. Paul Homicide Detective John Santana, White Tombs, 2008 and The Black Minute, 2009, (reprinted, 2012) and Bad Weeds Never Die, 2012, which are distributed by Partners. White Tombs won the 2008 Reader Views Choice Award for Best Mystery/Thriller and the Garcia Award for Best Fiction. The Black Minute won the 2009 Reader Views Choice Award for Best Mystery/Thriller, and was a finalist for the 2009 Midwest Book Award for Best Mystery/Thriller. Reader Views and Rebecca's Reads chose Bad Weeds Never Die as the 2011 Best Mystery/Thriller of the Year. Christopher has appeared on both radio and television, in feature stories in newspapers such as the St. Paul Pioneer Press, at over one hundred book signings, events, and book clubs throughout the Midwest, Arizona and New Mexico. He is an accomplished speaker and has given presentations to small and large group. He writes a blog called Probable Cause at and has a website at www.christophervalen.com. Christopher is a graduate of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Citizen Academy and has many contacts and resources in the law enforcement community.
